Do We Need to Reimagine the Library?

Libraries play a vital role in our cities. Along with providing free access to books, libraries are information centres that provide free internet access and education about digital literacy. They are public spaces that offer myriad programs and community-building opportunities. We need libraries, but as technology changes our reading habits will we need them in a different way? If digitization means that libraries no longer need row upon row of bookshelves, how should they rethink their physical space?
