Type City

Hong Seon Jang‘s Type City is a detailed metropolis rendered in miniature with discarded pieces of movable type from an old printing press. The artist says his work intends to “define conflict associated with contradictions inherent in nature and society, such as physical fragility and danger, ephemeral and perpetual, creation and extinction.” By combining the built environment and communication technology, Jang evokes this cycle of change and reinvention.
