Henriquez Partners Will Convert Cells to Apartments
Former DTES Jail to Become Affordable Housing Project
A building in Vancouver’s Downtown Eastside that once housed prisoners will be converted into an affordable housing project. The former Remand Centre at 211 Gore Avenue will soon house 95 units designed by Henriquez Partners Architects that range from 350 to 500 square feet and will be rented out to low-income earners for about $375–$800 a month. The project will be developed and managed by the St. James Community Service Society.
