Performers Fly through the Woodward’s Atrium on International Dance Day

The Dance Centre in Vancouver coordinated a series of public performances for International Dance Day on April 29th of this year. These shows highlighted a variety of dance styles and included artists such as SOULdiers at the Vancouver Public Library, Dancing in the Dark at the Vancouver International Film Centre and BLOOM at Mascall Dance Studio. Woodward’s Atrium was also transformed into a stage for a very unique and acrobatic performance by the Aeriosa Dance Society. This group combines their love of rock climbing and performance art to create a flying display of movement, performing while suspended anywhere from mountain faces to the side of buildings. At Woodward’s, the dancers soared above the atrium floor suspended from the metal rafters, creating an unforgettable spectacle. Watch the video below for a behind the scenes look at Aeriosa’s unique moves.
