Rent Bank

Program to Offer Micro Loans to Vulnerable Renters

The City of Vancouver is set to help fund a rent bank, a program designed to offer micro loans to low-income renters who are in danger of facing eviction. The rent bank is expected to provide about 540 loans a year to singles, couples, and families who are in financial crisis—it’s hoped that the assistance will make a crucial difference in bringing stability to people who are on the brink of having to leave their homes. The program will also provide financial literacy courses and other support services.
