It’s Just Beautiful

It’s hard to decide which aspect of Mark Lascelles Thornton’s drawing project The Happiness Machine is more amazing—the implicit craft and commitment, or the stunning results.

The scrupulously detailed architectural scenes from cities including Chicago, Shanghai, London and New York are beautiful. When completed, the massive project will cover eight panels that span eight feet by five feet.

Equally impressive is that Thorton is hand-drawing the entire project using only a rotring pen on white paper. Click Play Video to see a time-lapse video of Thornton working on a portion of The Happiness Machine.
