Woodward’s Redevelopment included in nominations for Mies Crown Hall Americas Prize
Henriquez Partners is proud to have our Woodward’s Redevelopment project nominated for consideration in the inaugural cycle of the Mies Crown Hall Americas Prize (MCHAP). The prize has been established by the College of Architecture at the Illinois Institute of Technology to recognize the most distinguished architectural works built on the North and South American continents.
Projects were put forward for consideration anonymously by the Council of MCHAP Nominators, composed of regionally and professionally diverse individuals whose work has had a significant impact on the theory and practice of architecture. In its first year, the MCHAP nominees encompass a very diverse body of work completed between January 2000 and December 2013. Other firms with nominated projects include Herzog & de Meuron, Renzo Piano Building Workshop, Zaha Hadid Architects, Gehry Partners, Foster & Partners, OMA / Rem Koolhaas, Safdie Architects, Snøhetta, SANAA, Pelli Clarke Pelli and Studio Daniel Libeskind.
The author of the MCHAP’s winning built work will receive the award of $50,000 USD and the MCHAP Chair at the IIT College of Architecture during the subsequent academic year. The recipient will conduct innovative research concerning the theme of ‘rethinking metropolis,’ have the opportunity to conduct a series of public lectures, as well as engage in other forms of advanced research at IIT.
Five finalists for the MCHAP will be announced in July and the ultimate winner will be announced following a jury visit to the finalists, in order to experience the built works first hand.
