SAGE at Wesbrook Place
SAGE is a contemporary reinterpretation of West Coast Modernism and its emphasis on the integral connection between interior space and nature. The project consists of an 18-storey tower and seven townhouses located along the north edge of the Wesbrook Place development on Berton Avenue at the University of British Columbia.
The site location adjacent to a mature old-growth forest inspired the emphasis on the connection to the outdoors, which resulted in the creation of large balconies that are staggered to allow access to light and views. The project also integrates several sustainability features, such as a stormwater retention tank that provides for landscape irrigation, a highly efficient mechanical system complete with heat recovery, and FSC certified wood flooring.
