100,000 Square Tiles

Located on Howe Street, the Addition is home to an original piece of public artwork designed by Founding Principal, Richard Henriquez. A Tribute to Duchamp, installed in the Addition lobby, was inspired by Marcel Duchamp’s Nude descending a Staircase No. 2 and a feature, folded-steel stair design element. The piece spans 26 feet across the building’s lobby and stretches two stories tall. The artwork extends through the lobby to the building’s exterior, bridging the public and private realm, and creating a vibrant feature for residents and the public. To help realize this art piece, computational design was used to convert the piece into over 100,000 square tiles for the permanent installation.
