Blood Alley has received a 2024 Future House Award in the “Mixed-use Buildings” category. The project conserves the historic Stanley and New Fountain Hotel facades, and brings 80 affordable housing units (operated by the Portland Housing Society) and 62 market rental units to the neighbourhood. The streetscape has been sensitively scaled to respond to Gastown’s characteristic sawtooth block profile.
Organized by Global Design News and The Chicago Athenaeum: Museum of Architecture and Design, the Future House Awards “arise from the convergence of residential design and architectural vision, with the aim of championing and honoring novel and inventive residential projects on a worldwide level.”
