Our Founding Principal, Richard Henriquez, was recently honoured with a Dean’s Medal of Distinction from UBC Applied Science. The Dean’s Medal of Distinction “serves to recognize individuals who have brought high honour to the faculty through their contributions to the advancement of its vision, mission and mandate.”
Founding what is now known as Henriquez Partners Architects in 1969, Richard created iconic buildings that comprise a significant portion of the architectural legacy of both the Lower Mainland and the country at large. Working from an imaginative tradition as a sculptor and assembler of form, Richard transforms projects into highly symbolic works narrated through public ritual, myth and traces of memory – real or imagined.
Richard and his wife Carol Henriquez, Co-Founder and former Executive Director of Vancouver’s Arts Umbrella, attended the Applied Science Celebration on November 21, 2023 and accepted the Dean’s Medal in person.
